抄録

Rana limnocharis is one of the dominant frogs in the rice fields of Igayacho, Kariya-shi. In this place, females were not mature in fall of the transformed year, but prepared many ova until early summer of the next year. The breeding season was from mid-May to late July. All mature females had ova of various size and developmental stages in their ovaries. They were thought to ovulate mature ova little by little during the breeding season. This pattern was remarkably different from the ovulation pattern of Rana porosa brevipoda, which ovulated almost all ova at once and then prepared their next clutches.
