Description

The heat of dilution in NaOH-KOH aqueous solution was measured by twin-type calorimeter at25°C and 50°C under various KOH/(KOH+NaOH) ratio and the integral heat of dilution was obtainedin the range of (KOH+NaOH) concentration between 48 wt% and 5 wt%.
The constants in Ausländer's equation on integral heat of dilution was estimated from the experimentalresults using the least square method and the integral heat of dilution estimated by the Ausländer's equation showed a good approximation to the experimental one.
Then, using the experimental results, the heat balance in the process of potassium recovery andcaustic soda purification from the crude caustic soda solution containing potassium hydroxide by the crystallization of NaOH·3.5H2O and the heat storage density of the caustic solution were discussed.
