Abstract

Monoliths are functional porous materials with three-dimensional continuous interconnected pore structure in a single piece. This review deals with recent development of polymeric monoliths fabricated by phase separation of the polymer solutions. Monoliths were obtained from various polymers such as acrylic resin, cellulose acetate, and poly(lactic acid). Polymer monoliths were used for various applications in biomedical, electrochemical, and environmental fields. Composites of polymer monoliths with bacterial cellulose gel were mentioned.
