Description

Metallic flake content, transfer efficiency, atomization characteristics, brightness, and flip-flop value of a waterborne metallic paint film coated with an electrostatic rotary bell cup atomizer were measured. Factors of atomizer were bell rotation speed (30,000-50,000 rpm) and shaping air flow rate (300-600 NL/min). The following results were obtained.
1 Metallic flake content in the paint film increased with increasing the bell rotation speed and the shaping air flow rate.
2 Metallic flake content in the paint film increased greatly when the shaping air flow rate was increased to 600 NL/min while the bell rotation number was more than 40,000 rpm.
3 Brightness and flip-flop value increased with increasing the bell rotation speed and the shaping air flow rate.
