Abstract

Titanium chelates with the ligand of 2-hydroxyazo or azomethine compounds were synthesized and their properties and thermal decomposition were investigated. The reaction of titanium tetraisopropoxide with two equivalent moles of 2-hydroxyazo or azomethine compound in benzene gave titanium chelates in quantitative yields. Titanium chelates had a low decomposition temperature of 102-115°C. The thermal decomposition of the chelate at 160-180°C under 3mmHg formed volatile components and residual solids. After reprecipitation, the solids were revealed to be titanium-containing polymers with molecular weight of 2000-3700.
