Abstract

Based on the knowledge the lecturer had obtained during his tenure of the Japanese Ambassador to Russia, he gave a talk about the present status and the prospects for the future of the revolution in Russia. He asseed that the President Yeltsin's policy to make Russia a democratic country had mostly been successful, although there had been many problems retarding the progress of the revolution, such as the intrusion of the Russian Army into Chechen and the health condition of the President. His view is that Russia is a promising country for its abundance of natural and human resources, and its high level of science and technology. He concluded relationship between Japan and Russia could and should be fuher promoted by mutual understanding.
