Abstract
We are supposed to face to a serious shortage of science and engineering personnel about 2010. Since the education of youngstars those who should become scientists and engineers has already begun, it is a critical problem to cope with today's education of them. This paper introduces their attitudes toward science and technology and the course selection in the university, based on the survey report, where the National Insitute of Science and Technology Policy analyze young people's drift away from science and technology. Also, the paper introduces the "Savages in a Civilized Society" hypothesis, which help us to discuss the implications of young people's drift away from science and technology. Finally, the author proposed the countermeasures to be tackled today.
