Description

This project is an attempt to create a database of all headlines recovered in The Asahi Shimbun reduced-size collective edition (Shukusatuban), issued monthly by the Asahi Shimbun since 1919. Users can capture the date of issue, headlines, page headings, the edition (morning or evening) , the issue number of the edition as published in the reference catalogue, and the column in which the story appeared. This project is planned to be carrieid out by dividing into several stages. At first the Asahi Shimbun is going to build a database for 50 years period from 1945 to 1994, and to provide headlines for 1993 on CD-ROM this spring, to be followed 10-year volumes overtime. The database will be provided on an on-line system, too.
