抄録

We have treated 100 cases of bladder tumors during the last 4 years and 6 months, and studied the functional and anatomical changes of the upper urinary tracts in 73 cases, by the intravenous pyelography, indigocarmine test, concentration and dilution tests, P. S. P. test and blood N. P. N. estimation.
53 per cent of these 73 cases showed alterations of more or less degree in the renal function.
The most important factor that determines the changes, is the degree of the infiltration into the bladder wall.
In benign papillomas, the changes are slight, if any (16%). The severe changes are seen almost always (90%) in the carcinoma of infiltration B and C (Jewett). The frequency and the grade of the changes in the papillary carcinoma of infiltration A, falls between these two patterns.
The number, size and site of bladder tumors influence little upon the changes of the upper urinary tracts, with exception that papillary carcinoma A of the trigone gives more changes than the tumor located far from the trigone.
As the clinical method, with which we can determine the degree of the infiltration, the bimanual palpation and air cystogra. phy are the most useful.
