Description
After performing the anti-peristaltic and iso-peristaltic ileo-ileostomy, the actionpotential was taken simultaneously at points oral ileum and caudal ileum, using theelectro-pole as designed by Dr. Ito of our surgical department. This action potential wastaken from the serosa side of the ileum, and conducted several times: one on 3rd day, 5th day, 1 week, 2 weeks and 4 weeks after ileo-ileostomy.
The following report is based on findings from those readings.
1. The reading of the contrast dog's ileum registered action potential 3 to 5 spikes ineach burst of 50 to 500 MV at intervals of 5 to 6 seconds.
2. The reading of both the anti-peristaltic ileum showed no bursts during the earlystages.
3. During early stages, the reading of the anti-peristaltic ileum showed an irregularmonophagic potential and the recovery of the oral ileum was delayed. The monophagicpotential appeared in alternate phenomena on the oral and caudal ileum anda great difference between oral and caudal ileum was recognized.
4. During early stages, the reading of the iso-peristaltic anastomosis showed no alternatephenomena and there was no difference between oral and caudal ileum.
5. The first burst occured on the reading in the iso-peristaltic anastomosis one weeklater and in the anti-peristaltic anastomosis, two weeks later.
6. During final stages (four weeks after anastomosis) the reading of both iso-peristalticand anti-peristaltic anastomosis compared similarly to the reading of the contrastdog.
7. In comparing the reading of both groups, the action potential of the iso-peristalticanastomosis seems to return to the normal potential faster than the other.
