Abstract

The AIS is used on many coastal and ocean going vessels when a deck officer decide the own course and speed. Also, the deck officer could not see the AIS data of other area. These information of AIS are able to obtain everybody by it's receiver around shore. The ship itself has obtained information about the surrounding area. At shore, it is difficult to obtain ship's information and to understand the reason and background are unknown how the changing his course and speed. This paper describes the result of investigation the data sharing system for AIS at shore and ship. The authors designed and built the the AIS (including ARPA, GPS and etc.) data -sharing server for ship and shore. The system has. adopted these two approaches to data sharing, collecting onboard data and sending ashore data via mobile phone and VPN. The system also used ordinary internet server at shore and ship with a internet connection device standard Internet communications tools without special software. The systems are installed five colleges and two ships, woks 24 hours 365 days. The Internet connection works almost completely for data sharing when the lines work. On the mobile internet connection, it takes 10 seconds to send information when using a 40K bytes jpg photo file. The mentioned system also provides cheaper information collecting system from any onboard equipment.
