Description
We evaluated the plateau method in regard to pure tone audiometry. The plateau in air conduction audiometry (APL) is as follow: APL=(IaA-right AB gap)+(IaA-left AB gap)<BR>Therefore, there is no plateau in air conduction audiometry when the bilateral AB gaps are equal to IaA (the interaural attenulation for air conduction). Even if the AB gap of the nontest ear is equal to IaA, the bone conduction threshold of the test ear can therefore be determined by using the plateau method.
