Description
It is well known that the house dust is an important allergen in allergic diseases of the respiratory organs. However, it was appeared that one of the mites, Dermatophagoides farinae (Df), played an important role as the allergen of the house dust in nasal allergy. On the other hand, the other mite, Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (Dp), which occurs in the house dust in Japan more than Df, was cultured and the allergen was separated from the extract of Dp by Dr. Ishii. In order to clarify the clinical significance of the mite (Dp) in the nasal allergy, we observed the skin reaction in the patients with nasal allergy using the new allergen from the extract of the mite (Dp).
The results obtained were as follows:
1) The positive rate of the mite and the house dust in the skin reaction were 91.3% and 91.3%, respectively. Further, the overall agreement was 100%.
2) The significant correlation between the mite (Dp) and the house dust was observed in the size of wheal in the skin reaction of these allergens, but it was not observed in the size of redness.
From the above results, it was suggested that the mite (Dp) was an important allergen of the nasal allergy as well as the house dust.
