Abstract
We outline information education in elementary and secondary education in Japan with a subject named "Information Studies". First, we outline how the government researched information education when introducing it into the previous curriculum guidelines. Next, we outline how the government introduced the subject named "Information Studies" into the current curriculum. Next, we describe the syllabus of information education, the location of the subject "Information Studies" in information education, the contents of the subject "Information Studies", and the current status of the subject "Information Studies". Finally, we make a prediction about the next curriculum guidelines and outline the problems of information education in elementary and secondary education in relation to the subject "Information Studies".<br>
