Abstract

The topic of this paper is data sharing from official statistics, with a focus on the current situation and future outlook for Japan. Several types of official data are released across a variety of formats according to confidentiality and user needs, including statistical tables, original microdata, anonymized microdata, custom-made statistics, on-demand tabulation and open data. In order to promote data sharing of official statistics, further research into data linkage between official microdata, usability of official statistics and maintenance of metadata is needed.
