Description
A total of 55 patients, in whom a diagnosis of noninvasive bladder carcinoma was made, underwent cystoscopy with narrow band imaging(NBI)at this hospital. Tumors were observed, and the resection range was determined before the transurethral resection of a bladder tumor(TURBT)in 15 of the patients.
For papillary tumors, no changes in tumors were observed with white light and NBI, but borderlines between tumors and normal mucosa were clearly observed with NBI. For flat-type tumors, a part of mucosal abnormalities, which was not clearly seen with white light, was clearly observed with NBI in three patients.
The use of NBI was associated with the clarification of borderlines between tumors and the surrounding mucosa, and straightforward determination of the resection range. NBI is also considered to be useful to improve the diagnostic rate through the early detection of bladder carcinoma as well as its recurrence.
