Abstract

The National Agricultural Cooperatives Federation (NACF) in Korea has a distinctive business model that operates in two different areas, and is named a “multipurpose cooperative”. The two sectors are banking and agricultural activities such as marketing and input supply. Recently it has become a critical part of the agenda to separate the two sectors of NACF in Korean agriculture. Many issues have been raised on the organization reform of NACF. This study discusses those issues including the type of organization, the division of equity among individuals and the function of a mutual credit federation.
