Abstract
After being specified to be world heritage, tourists increased rapidly and the two colonies have received large pressure in continuation of the protection of old buildings and social culture in SIRAKAWA in Japan and XIDI in China. Furthermore, the requests for which village people improve life/production environment mount increasingly, and coexistence of development and protection becomes a severe situation. In this research, aiming at the village world heritage, we compare the management system, and profits distribution, based on the field survey in the two colonies in 2001, and try to find out the direction of tourism development of this type of tourism attraction.
