Libraries and publishers around the world have been working on varieties of archive projects in order to ensure a stable access and long-term preservation of e-journals. In this article, the author gives an overview of CLOCKSS as a representative model of a global dark archive project operated by academic communities and explains how it works. The author also describes how National Institute of Informatics and university libraries in Japan first joined CLOCKSS and began to participate in long-term e-journals preservation initiatives.
