Description
Using a 4-electrode drive, a breakdown voltage of an EEFL was reduced. Two sets of electrodes were provided on the EEFL at an interval of 100mm. Each of the sets consisted of a couple of electrodes facing each other. Applied voltages to the facing electrodes had a phase difference of 0-1us. The voltage waveform of one of the electrode sets were inverted from the other. When the phase difference was 100ns, the breakdown voltage was reduced from 830V to 460V, and the maintenance voltage was reduced from 370V to 347V.
