Abstract

In order to find the relationship between psychological scale and threshold of visibility, we did the experiment that evaluated visibility of the edge (easiness to see the line) of various luminance changes in the small to people in twenties and 65 years or more. We defined the scale of evaluation as "definitely not see (the edge)", "barely able to see", "able to see", "able to see well", and "able to see very well". As a result of analysis, it became clear that logarithmic magnification of threshold at the evaluate point strongly correlates with visibility. We make it possible to express visibility of the edge quantitatively with the use of Image-based Visibility Evaluation Method.
