Abstract
We have studied the reaction mechanism of the bio- and chemiluminescence of imidazopyrazinones. In this work, we focused on the oxygenation mechanism including an electron transfer process. For this purpose, we investigated the kinetics of chemiluminescence reactions of imidazopyrazinones in the absence and presence of an electron-acceptor as a quencher, and the ability of electron transfer between an imidazopyrazinone anion and O2. From these results, we found that the oxygenation of an imidazopyrazinone anion is an efficient process involving the electron-transfer between the imidazopyrazinone anion and O2.
