Description
Sumanenetrione derivatives are expected to show characteristic physical properties because of deeper bowl-shaped structure than sumanene. We successfully synthesized sumanenetriones by direct oxygenation of sumanene using molecular oxygen as an oxidant in the presence of sodium hexamethyldisilazide (NaHMDS). From the investigation of fluorescence spectra, it was found that the sumanenetrione showed a new emission component at longer wavelength region in dichloromethane solution and it should be an excimer emission. In this symposium, photophysical properties of the sumanenetrione derivatives will also be discussed.
