Description

This report deals with experimental verification of Random Choice Method (RCM) for shallow water problem for a tank with arbitrary bottom slope. Model tank tests are carried out, in order to examine the properties of RCM and its modified method. Close agreement between numerical calculation results by using RCM and experimental results is obtained. Comparison of numerical results obtained by RCM and Marker-and-Cell Method (MAC Method) shows that RCM is very useful for analyzing shallow water problems, and its numerical solutions are stable for any cases. Furthermore it became known that in case of experiment using a small tank for shallow water problem surface tension is necessary to be considered.
