This paper presents a new procedure for estimating sloshing eigen periods of several types of tank, such as a liquid cargo tank, a ballast water tank and an anti-rolling tank. The estimating procedure consists of two processes; the first process is numerical simulations of free damping motion of slosh liquid in a tank, and the second process is the time histories analysis of free surface elevation of slosh liquid. The numerical simulations are executed by using the finite difference method (SOLA-SURF scheme). A series of numerical calculations are performed for a half-annulus tank, half-ellipse tanks with baffle and without baffle and a U-tube type anti-rolling tank. Numerical estimating results by the present procedure are compared with theoretical results by the sloshing eigen problems and approximate results by the traditional theory (U-tube theory). It is confirmed that the present procedure is a useful tool for estimating sloshing eigen periods of several types of ship tank.
