Description

6.9wt%Mo/ZSM-5 was prepared from a physical mixture of MoO3 and HZSM-5. The catalyst was calcined at 773K and then was reduced at 773-1173K. The catalytic performances of Mo/ZSM-5 varied markedly with reduction temperature. Mo/ZSM-5 reduced at 1073K exhibited the most stable activity for methane dehydroaromatization. The catalyst deactivation was accompanied by an increase in the rate of ethylene formation. NH3-TPD studies showed that Mo/ZSM-5 reduced at higher temperature had the less acidity. We suggest from these results that reduction of the acidity may be a reason for the stabilization of the catalytic activity.
