Abstract
In order to find a low cost recovering method of phosphorus from carbonized sewage sludge, acid extraction using sulfuric acid was investigated. Phosphorus extracted from charcoal was recovered using magnesium hydroxide mainly as a form of aluminum phosphate, and magnesium sulfate formed by neutralization was also recovered by evaporation. The recovered aluminum phosphate was almost same as phosphorus recovered by sodium bicarbonate.
