Description
Cushioning materials, such as granular mats and sand cushion placed on rock sheds, are attracting attention as construction device that can effectively disperse and reduce rock fall energy before rocks collide with protection works. In this paper, we show influence on impact force transmission mechanism of sand cushion by rock fall condition with DEM. Consequently, we confirmed it is important the presence of stress wave which elaborately transmit and reflect in the sand cushion to occur impact force. And there is some possibility maximum impact force strength is affected by velocity change of early period of penetration.
