Abstract
A step-like change of shear stress was observed in the shear stress vs. rate plot of some concentrated emulsions and suspensions. This step like change of stress was observed if using a standard parallel plates or cone & plate cell. However this increase was dissapeared in the measurements using a cell with roughned surface. An additional layer is probably formed at the cell and sample interface under shear if using the standard cell and this new layer causes the step-like change of shear stress.
