Description
Tsushima strait is located between the East China Sea and the Japan Sea. Current variabilities in this strait is thus important to understand ocean weather in those adjacent seas. However, such variabilities have not been made clear so far, due mainly to insufficient number of observations. Recent observation with HF radar systems reveals clear characteristics of current variabilities in the Tsushima strait. For example, in the eastern channel, southeastward counter currents are formed at both sides of northeastward Tsushima Current from August to October. In this presentation, we will show such newly found characteristics of current variabilities and discuss their responsible dynamics (mean current, tidal current, stratification...).
