Abstract

Slab track has been introduced as a standard track on rigid roadbed for Sanyo SHINKANSEN between Okayama and Hakata which came into operation in 1975 and its effect on maintenance saving has been recognized. However, in application of it to Tohoku and Joetsu SHINKANSEN lines, new problems arose such as, introduction of new analysis method for designing, development of track slab and cement-asphalt mortar for cold climate use which are required to hvae an increased durability, abatement of noise and vibration in train running. In this paper is described new developments to solve those problems.
