Description
In long horizontal boring, exceeding 30m, the accuracy of drilling becomes a problem in soft ground. In the jet-mixing method, once the exact accuracy of drilling cannot be obtained, the purpose of ground improvement may be unable to be achieved. To improve the accuracy of horizontal drilling, the direction controlling method was needed. In order to correct the direction, a mechanically simple wedge system was introduced. The prediction value of the amount of corrections, and the experiment results of drilling for 60 meters were compared and discussed. As a result, it has been recognized that by selecting of a suitable wedge angle and size of the bit, the drilling direction is controllable.
