Abstract
This paper proposes the design method in which the secondary lining is considered as the reinforcing member, referring to the latest research results. The study using this method was carried out for existing shield tunnels of the Teito Rapid Transit Authority, which had been affected by the adjacent construction works.<br>According to this study, it was found that the existing shield tunnels were secure and the economical reinforcing work became possible.
