This is the report of reinforced concrete work executed in Sapporo City from February to March 1963. For concrete work, we prepared temporary shed to cover allover the building of four stories including penthouse. The shed was composed of framed scaffold and light gage steel truss, and was covered by wood panels and framed scaffold and light steel truss, and was covered by wood panels and two layers of canvas. And to let sunlight in, plastic sheet was adopted along the top of roof. The heat sources were an oil furnance of 150,000 kca/hr and two steam cleaners of 50,000 kcal/hr, which supplied warm air through fixed and flexible ducts. To economize heat, we adopted "climbing up" roof truss, which kept the interior volume minimum. Thus we could keep temperature in the shed adove 10℃ when concrete was placed and above 5℃ until concrete got sufficient strength, in spite of cold open air. We recorded tenperature of various spots of job site and placed concrete, and also test cylinders which were cured in various positions of job site. Judging from the relationship between curing temperature and strength, we proved that the concrete of structure had gotten enough strength. This method must be more improved, and if shortening of work term and puickening of turnover of funds are required in the cold district, this method will pay economically in near future.
