Description

In this paper, an approximate solution which is taking the effect of diffracted waves into account is presented for the surface ground motion of a dipping layer. It is based on the ray theory. This method cosidered the wave component which propagated along the surface from the egde of a dipping layer as diffracted waves. Comparison of results with the boundary element method shows very good agreement at lower computational cost. Frequency responces and time domain results are presented for-different property contrasts and incidence angles. This method is suited to study for the surface response of analysis of dipping layer, due to its low cost and no upper frequency limit.
