Abstract

Progressive deterioration of the paint film is attributed to resulting from the synergistic effects of ultraviolet rays and oxygen. The photo-oxidation reactions generate free radicals at a molecular junction of the paint film, which in turn generate other radicals from neighboring molecules and degenerate the wider area of the film. The one way to suppress the deterioration is converting the radicals into a stable material using an light stabilizer, for example,HALS.We report herein the results of the performance tests on a ceramic compound HALS-Hybrid resin paint that was constituted with the light stabilizer and ceramics stably incorporated into a resin.Compared with a thermoplastics type fluorine resin paint and a thermosetting urethane resin paint, our HALS-Hybrid resin paint demonstrates superior performance for outdoor construction materials.
