Abstract
Zn-Chl a was formed in Chlorella grown in the dark with the excessive Zn2+. (1) The membrane fragments isolated from Zn-grown Chlorella were solubilized with Triton X-100 or β-dodecylmaltoside, and fractionated by centrifugation into the precipitates at 30,000rpm for 20 min (30kppt) and at 50,000rpm for 60 min (50kppt), and its supernatant (50ksup). (2) P700/Chl a ratios suggest that PSII and PSI were enriched in 30kppt and in 50kppt, respectively, while LHCP was enriched in 50ksup. (3) The low-temperature fluorescence indicated that the far-red fluorescence was not dominant in 50kppt, probably due to the labile far-red Chl forms in 50kppt. (4) Zn-Chl a/Chl a ratios were almost the same in 30kppt and in 50kppt, but extremely low in 50ksup, suggesting that Zn-Chl a was equally incorporated into PSII and PSI. (5) PSI and PSII bands were not so clear on the SDS-PAGE, suggesting their easy fragmentation during SDS-PAGE.
