It is well known that the diffusion of carbon dioxide and oxygen is an important factor for a quantitative assessment of carbonation of concrete and corrosion of the steel bar in reinforced concrete structures. The authors have studied the method for determination of gas diffusion coefficient using the diffusion cell by Pick's law, and the similar boundary condition between solid and gas in the theory of heat transfer was applied. It was found that the diffusion coefficient with a higher accuracy was obtained by use of the proposed method, compared with previous methods.
