抄録

Expected total cost optimization of large tension leg floating islands subjected to wind waves is formulated. Internal forces in a floating body and tendon forces in tension leg moorings are evaluated by wet mode superposition approach and stationary random vibration theory. Failure probabilities of floating body and mooring lines which are conditional on a return period of wave loading are calculated by solving a first passage problem in the frequency domain. Under a constraint that the failure probability of the whole structural system does not exceed a target failure probability, an expected total cost which is the summation of initial and expected repair costs is minimized to determine optimal values of body thickness and mooring stiffness. Numerical examples are presented to show the applicability of the method. Calculated optimal values and costs are compared with those of initial cost optimization.
