Abstract

This paper considers power supply strategies in futures markets in the presence of day-ahead markets, whose participating companies bid their supply curve and amount of futures transactions given by an iterative learning method. In particular, we analyze the relationship between the supply strategies and the resulting contracts through simulation. The results reveal that generating companies joining futures markets will reduce their bid price in day-ahead markets close to marginal price, but that the only company attending futures markets tends to heighten the corresponding spot price conversely. We also demonstrate the effectiveness of a dynamic learning of contract strategies in futures markets.
