Abstract
In this study, dynamic behaviors of a feed drive system which uses a rod type linear motor are investigated. A mathematical model of the feed drive system is newly developed. The mathematical model can express the vibration of a base plate and the rigidity of the rod type motor. Friction force of linear ball guides is also modeled. As the results of experiments and simulations, dynamic behaviors of the system and non-linear spring characteristics of linear ball guide are well expressed by proposed model. In addition, the relationships between the vibration damping characteristics of the system and the friction characteristics of the linear guides are discussed by using the model.
