Description
The method of aging simulation with orthotic devices was applied to estimate the effect of the aging for various residential environments' arrangements related to the movement of stepping up and down. As the result, the effect of the residential environments came out more clearly in stepping down than stepping up. And old people were also affected more than young people. On the point of reducing the physical load, to lower the step's height was the most effective way. However, to attach the parallel slanting handrails was generally more effective than to lower the step's height to a half of the standard setting situation.
