This is a case study about the conservation of local landscape in Yame area.<BR>In Yame area, we can see the bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis A. et C. Riv) forest as an element of local landscape. And Yame is one of the districts where bamboo shoots has been most produced in Japan.<BR>Well, in Yame area, the farming of bamboo as a cultivated plants was begun in Meiji era. But, it was not easy to develope as an industry, because the harvested raw bamboo shoots was not able to store.<BR>So pioneers started the manufacturing of the canned bamboo shoots in Taisho era. This attempt with the object of economic slabilization was succeeded in, and the bamboo farming has been developed. As a result, the bamboo forest as an element of local landscape has been conserved.
