Abstract
In this paper, we propose a multi-monitoring system, which collects and visualizes the information from multiple BBS threads. A BBS consists of many threads, in which a large number of people enjoy chat, review and argument about various topics. A BBS is useful as the means to know the latest information and wide range of opinions about the topics of interest. However, we must spend much time reading large number of text entries in a thread to recognize the topic and opinions about it. As a topic of interest is usually mentioned in several threads, this problem becomes more serious. The proposed multi-monitoring system summarizes the contents of multiple threads based on keywords extracted from those threads. The result is visualized with mutually-coupled visualizations: keyword group and thread group. A user can exhaustively monitor multiple threads through interaction with those two visualizations. The prototype system is developed, of which usefulness is shown by visualizing 10 threads collected from the Web.
