Abstract
Transition between bistable states in molecular orientation is investigated by using the fringe field method for the N-LC cell in which a bistable alignment films obtained by obliquely exposing polarized UV light to a vertical alignment film with week anchoring capability for vertical alignment is used. The switching between bistable states is successfully observed when the heat treatment temperature is carried out at 270 before the UV light irradiation
