Abstract
We have reported the preparation of photo-responsive structural color materials by infiltrating azo-functionalized polymer liquid crystal (Azo-PLC) into SiO2 inverse opal structure. The wavelength of the structural color was changed reversibly by irradiation of linearly and circularly polarized light (LPL and CPL) with Ar+ laser, resulting reversible molecular orientation between random state and uniaxial state. The shift of the structural color ranged from 10 nm to 20 nm depending on the photoinduced birefringence.
