Abstract
The cave park of Okinawa World, established in 1972, is authorized as a museum of Okinawa prefecture. In this park, reservation system guided tour is undertaken in the Valley of Gangala since August in 2008. This valley is situated in an area of Pleistocene Ryukyu Limestone, uplifted coral reef, where a collapsed cave formed subtropical forests. Interpreters introduce various natural and cultural features, such as geology, landforms, plants and sacred places, as resources of sustainable tourism. This tour is based on Quaternary sciences connected with geology, geography, anthropology and archaeology, and its story emphasizes the relationship between environmental history and ancient human life. This concept agrees with geotourism.
