Description

The purpose of this study was to identify the factors responsible for the turnover values among hospital nurses.A questionnaire was distributed to 3,050 nurses working in 39 hospitals over 200 hospital beds. In total 1,733 (56.8%) of the questionnaires were returned; among them, 1,213 (39.8%) fully completed questionnaires were included in the exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses.<br>The exploratory factor analysis highlighted four factors: " Potential for self-actualization" (13 items),"Excessive workload" (7 items), " Measures for realizing the work-life balance" (3 items), and" Diminished experience-based intelligence" (5 items). The internal consistency was high as confirmed by a Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin value of .90 and the Cronbach's α ranged from .77 to .91 for all four factors. The confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the factor structure of the turnover values among hospital nurses (GFI=.923, AGFI=.908, CFI=.923, RMSEA=.048) and provided statistically evidence of validity. For nurses, the turnover values reflect their personal values, with an emphasis on decisions regarding self-fulfillment and lifestyle.
