Description
This paper discusses the relationship between career education and information technology education in terms of learning objectives,contents,and activities.Three similarities between these two educations are as follows: first,both educations have been demanded by the request of society; second,both are aimed to promote a new kind of literacy that is based on previous learning contents and activities; and third,both were planned such that all school teachers could conduct the classes.In information technology education,learning themes that connect society and career could promote the students’ interest and attitudes toward learning activities.Therefore,the contents of information technology education contribute to career development.Career education has been shown to resemble information technology education from the viewpoint of learning activities.The former includes learning activities regarding appropriate use of job information and that promote positive attitudes toward being an employee,and help the student decide which course to pursue during higher education.Consequently,the above interrelationship must be considered when developing the school curriculum.
