<p>Although facilitating expeditious and effective product development, labor mobility in Taiwan’s IT industries had made long-term employment of excellent engineers difficult. This paper analyzes the role of the military service system, a component of Taiwan’s defense structure, and explores the impact of this system on the competitiveness of Taiwan’s IT industry.</p>
